About the sho
Australians have a new tool for discovering the cream of their local music scene come November 26.
Auditioned through MySpace, Scout TV features local Sydney music artists, events and news in its half-hour television and web broadcast.
Scout is the brainchild of music industry veteran Jaimie Carter.
“The music scene has vastly changed in the past decade. Old methods don’t cut it anymore. Downloads are on the rise and independent artists now sidestep the major record labels using online tools such as MySpace.”
Scout promises to bring new life to the local music scene, highlighting acts regardless of genre. It hopes energetic and honest performances will confirm Scout as the authentic, underground music show to challenge the networks’ traditional offerings.
The presenters are David Ford and Shannon Parisi, both working in the television industry. Also joining the hosting of two subsidiary sections of Scout are Magdalena Sky, known to legions of fans across Australia as Mz Ann Thropik, frontwoman of the same band. Her alluring charm evokes a mischevious and cheeky spin on all things hard and heavy and alternative. Mz Ann is a natural performer, and is just at home in front of a camera as she is bewitching adoring fans in venues across the country. Aimee Fischer-Gray takes the mantle of Scout Urban, dedicated to pop, hip hop and R n’ B. Currently studying communications and broadcasting, she brings her latent skills, along with her natural club lifestyle to the show, giving an equal balance to the hard and heavy with the thumping club grooves her acts pump out.
“This show is about discovering real, touchable people,” said Ford. “It’s music in its purist form by musicians you’ll recognise from gigs around town”.
For artists, signed and unsigned, this is their golden opportunity of getting maximum exposure.
“Best of all, it’s interactive,” continued Parisi. “People can engage through our website – watch the shows, critique on the forum and download the tracks they like.”
Artists interested in appearing on the television show should contact Jaimie Carter through www.scouttv.com.au. “The main credential is a well-recorded mp3 track, though a MySpace profile helps too.”
Scout TV airs weekly on TVS (Channel 31) Mondays 9pm, Tuesdays 11:30am and Sundays 4:30pm, beginning Monday 26th of November.
